The Directorate General Skills Development (DGSD) is responsible for coordination of all non-formal skill development efforts across the country, removal of disconnect between demand and supply of skilled manpower, building the vocational and technical training framework, skill up-gradation, building of new skills, and innovative thinking not only for existing jobs but also jobs that are to be created.
DGSD has established temporary TVET commission focusing on certification and quality assurance of the non-formal TVET, aiming to regulate and oversight the TVET provision in the country.
The DGSD also intends to work with the TVETA, private sector particularly industrial sector, ACIM, ACCI, international organizations, and NGOs at the central and provincial level.
During the past ten years, with the support of the international donor community, considerable reforms are introduced in the non-formal TVET by the. These efforts include a wide range of reforms and restructuring within the DGSD, particularly close coordination with the private sector, the introduction of public-private partnership, development of curricula and instructional materials and certification and quality assurance.
